A crisp, open sky after dark, with a helpful ripple pushed from the WNW with the barometer flat. On Lac Citrouille, work windblown banks where food collects first. Everything points to the middle of the day. Keep expectations modest and fish carefully. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Citrouille in the Capitale-Nationale part of Quebec. The sea is 25 km distant. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. The closest town, Saint-Ubalde, is 17 km away. Sainte-Foy is the closest city, 62 km away. Others close at hand: Le Petit Lac just 1 km, Lac Fortin at 1.3 km, Le Gros Lac just 1.9 km, Lac Crochu at 1.9 km and Lac aux Pins just 2 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Capitale-Nationale records list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The near bank of Lac Citrouille is often the one people ignore.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -14°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Citrouille.
Access is not recorded for this water. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Le Petit Lac sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac Citrouille carry more weight than any list.
