Bands of rain crossing through the day, with a faint NW drift with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Jacques will be around any hard bottom among the soft. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today.

You will find Lac Jacques in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. It stands 203 metres above sea level. At roughly 10 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Roughly 1.4 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. The town to know is Saint-Ubalde, 19 km out. The big place round here is Sainte-Foy, 63 km distant. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Jacques before you fish it and the day goes better.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -14°C for January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Jacques fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Ricard at 0.3 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac Jacques locally before you travel.
