Fishing near Springville, Utah

Springville sits on the Utah County side of Utah. The choice is wider than most towns this size get. The near ones first: Grimes Pond (8.0 miles), Salem Lake (8.6 miles) to the south-west, Tanner Reservoir (12 miles) and Maple Lake (15 miles) to the south. Tanner Reservoir runs clear, so keep back from the edge and fish light. Winter closes the surface for months. Late autumn fishes well right up to the shut-down. Most of it sits behind a dam wall. Cast to cover rather than to open water. Closest is Grimes Pond at around 4 acres of water. Grimes Pond is the easiest to reach with a car. Expect the lakes here to open about early March. Across Utah County, recorded fish include rainbow trout, brown trout, common carp, bluegill and green sunfish. The bulk of it is impounded water rather than natural.
