Fishing near Lafayette, Colorado

In Boulder County, Colorado, sits Lafayette. There are about 27,729 people here. Short trips first: Waneka Reservoir under 1.2 miles, Hecla Lake under 1.7 miles to the west, Erie Lake under 1.8 miles, Thomas Reservoir under 2.8 miles to the north with Grant B Reservoir under 3.1 miles. Thomas Reservoir answers to the pipe rather than the rain, so the level moves oddly. Held water dominates the choice here. Cover on the bank counts as much as cover below it. Ice takes them over for a stretch each year. Nothing sensible happens under the lid without proper gear. Closest is Waneka Reservoir at around 48 acres of water. Waneka Reservoir has mapped parking, which saves a long carry. Fish documented across Boulder County include black-spotted cutthroat trout, brook trout and brown trout. If Waneka Reservoir is busy, everything else on this list is quieter....
