Solid cloud cover today, with a persistent wind from the SSW with a settled glass. On Lac Stenco, work the shallows early and the drop later first. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Stenco lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The water sits 511 metres up. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Head to Leblanc, 68 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Weymontachie at 107 km and Normandin at 111 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Stenco light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac Stenco the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Darois sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Lac Stenco.
