No direct sun expected today, with a steady SSW wind with a settled glass. Lac Mado should fish best around the shaded margin through bright spells today. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Mado in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits at 503 metres above sea level. It measures about 19 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 2.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Leblanc at 68 km is the nearest place to stop. For a city, Saguenay is 227 km off. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Mado a short move beats a long cast.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Plan around that when you fish Lac Mado.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac Gibel, 0.7 km out. Confirm access to Lac Mado locally before you travel.
