A wet system passing over today, with a working SSW breeze and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Masse should be near inflow corners and shaded margins. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Masse. The ground round it is boreal forest. The water measures roughly 6 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Leblanc lies 67 km from the water. Saguenay sits 223 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Masse light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -18°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Anyone fishing Lac Masse regularly works to that calendar.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Real is 1.2 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Masse in what we hold.
