An even grey lid over the water, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Gibel should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Gibel stands in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The water sits 519 metres up. At 6 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Leblanc lies 67 km from the water. For a city, Saguenay is 226 km off. Close by you have: Lac Mado within 0.7 km, Lac Abricot sits 1 km out, Lac Patricia within 1.9 km, Lac Stenco sits 1.9 km out and Lac Jenny within 2 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Gibel gives up more to patience than to distance.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac Gibel around it.
We hold no note on access for this one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Mado sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Gibel in what we hold.
