A closed sky with even light today, with a firm SSW blow and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Miroir around the seam between weed and open water. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean entry here is Lac Miroir, in Quebec. The setting is spruce and muskeg. At 10 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. About 1.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Saint-Félicien is the closest town at 23 km. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 113 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Miroir that means starting tight and working out.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Miroir runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
We hold no note on access for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Petit lac Vert, 1.1 km out. Confirm before you fish Lac Miroir.
