Soft grey light all day today, with an easy breeze from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Menard along the seam between weed and open water. The morning is where the day comes good. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Menard is listed under Laurentides, Quebec. It stands 383 metres above sea level. It measures about 14 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Shoreline comes to about 1.4 km, small enough to learn in a day. Val-David is the closest town at 10 km. Then Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, 11 km, and Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson, 14 km. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Menard that means starting tight and working out.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -14°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. At Lac Menard the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There are toilets 670 m off. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Should this one be busy, Lac Sarrazin is 1.4 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac Menard.
