Wet weather working through today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Caisse around the shallows early and the drop later. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Laurentides, Lac Caisse is a Quebec water. What surrounds it is lake country bush. Surface area runs to about 5 hectares — small enough to read in one session. The town to know is Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, 8.8 km out. After that come Val-David at 10 km and Val-Morin at 15 km. Within a short drive: Lac Hague about 1 km, Lac Beausoleil a touch under 1.4 km, Lac Davis about 1.4 km, Lac Cardin a touch under 1.5 km and Lac Ludger about 1.7 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. At Lac Caisse the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. On Lac Caisse the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Hague, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Caisse is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
