No direct sun expected today, with an easy breeze from the W and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Hall will be around reed fringes and open pockets. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Quebec holds Lac Hall, in Outaouais. Land around it is rolling bush. With some 20 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The bank runs about 2.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Maniwaki lies 3.3 km from the water. For a city, Gatineau is 103 km off. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Lac Hall repays a walk before the first cast.
Temperature averages peak at 19°C in July and bottom out at -14°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It holds true on Lac Hall more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac Gilmore, 1.1 km out. What applies at Lac Hall may have changed since it was mapped.
