Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Amik should centre on the shallows early and the drop later. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Set in Outaouais, Quebec, this is Lac Amik. What surrounds it is pine and birch. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Outaouais standards. Start from Maniwaki, 5.5 km down the road. It is 106 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Lac Amik rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Amik runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac Wanike, 0.5 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Amik in what we hold.
