Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind WSW breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. On Lac Omagaki, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Omagaki lies within the bounds of Outaouais, Quebec. The country round it is mixed forest from end to end. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. Nearest town is Maniwaki, 5.5 km off. Then Saint-Boniface, 13 km, and Saint-Raphaël, 15 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Anyone new to Lac Omagaki should walk it once before setting up.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -14°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. The season on Lac Omagaki follows the weather closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lac Azawens, 0.6 km away. Check the current arrangement for Lac Omagaki.
