No direct sun expected today, with a light chop building from the SW and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Griffin is shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Quebec holds Lac Griffin, in Outaouais. The ground round it is lake country bush. Small at around 10 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. A shoreline of some 1.7 km keeps the choices simple. The town to know is Deep River, 26 km out. Further out sit Chalk River (34 km) and Petawawa (47 km). Near neighbours include: 1.1 km away is Lac Moore, Lac Lance at 1.2 km, 1.6 km away is Lac Forget, Lac Ringrose at 2.3 km and 2.9 km away is Lac Blais. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Lac Griffin the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The year swings from about -14°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Plan around that when you fish Lac Griffin.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Moore, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Griffin, the notice at the access point is the final word.
