A rainy spell sitting over the area, with a gentle ripple from the SW with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Fournier around sheltered bays and points. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Outaouais, Lac Fournier is a Quebec water. Height above sea level is 363 metres. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. You are 21 km from Deep River. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 155 km away. Nearby, in order: Lac Gull (2 km), Lac Corriveau within 2.2 km, Lac Jovette (3.1 km), Lac Robillard within 3.7 km and Lac Jolicoeur (4.2 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Fournier the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Averages move between -14°C in January and 18°C in July. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Anyone fishing Lac Fournier regularly works to that calendar.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Gull, 2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Fournier is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
