Soft grey light all day today, with a light chop building from the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Gandin should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac Gandin sits. The ground around here is pine and birch. Small even by pond standards, it rewards one careful line. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 41 km off. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 156 km away. Nearby, in order: Lac Armstrong at about 1.8 km, Lac Joug out at 2.1 km, Lac Keeling at about 2.3 km, Lac Bal out at 2.3 km and Lac Andabre at about 2.3 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Gandin gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages move between -16°C in January and 18°C in July. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Time your trip to Lac Gandin by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Lac Armstrong at 1.8 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Gandin, the notice at the access point is the final word.
