Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Joug, work points where shallow meets deep first. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Joug sits in Outaouais, out in Quebec. The surface lies 302 metres up. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Saint-Boniface sits 42 km from the bank. Gatineau sits 156 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Round about: Lac Keeling 0.7 km off, Lac Dattier at 0.9 km, Lac Irone 1.2 km off, Lac Andabre at 1.5 km and Lac Latrie 1.6 km off. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Take Lac Joug a stretch at a time.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -16°C for January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan any trip to Lac Joug around it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Keeling, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Joug, the notice at the access point is the final word.
