A wet system passing over today, with a light chop building from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Frog is structure within a cast of the bank. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Frog falls in Mauricie, part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 438 metres. The water covers some 49 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. You are looking at roughly 6.7 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. It is among the larger waters listed here for Mauricie. Nearest place of any size is Weymontachie, 42 km away. Trois-Rivières sits 155 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Fish Lac Frog to its features, not to its size.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Plan around that when you fish Lac Frog.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac Rose, 1.4 km out. Where Lac Frog is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
