An even grey lid over the water, with a soft SSW wind with a settled glass. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lac Rose. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Rose in the Mauricie part of Quebec. Taiga runs right down to the water. It measures about 34 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Shoreline comes to about 3.2 km, small enough to learn in a day. Weymontachie is the closest place, 42 km off. La Tuque follows at 62 km, then Manawan at 70 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Rose that means starting tight and working out.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Plan around that when you fish Lac Rose.
Access is not recorded for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Lac Quebec at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Lac Rose before loading the car.
