Solid cloud cover today, with air barely moving and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Faron around bays that hold the day's warmth. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac Faron sits. Height above sea level is 398 metres. Small at around 8 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Nearest town is Normandin, 27 km off. After that come Albanel at 35 km and Saint-Félicien at 35 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about. Quiet on weekdays, busier when the weather turns fine.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Faron gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It holds true on Lac Faron more years than not.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. If the gate is shut, Lac Ageukue at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Faron in what we hold.
