Dull, settled light over the water, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Boily should come off sheltered bays and points. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Boily stands in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 334 metres. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Normandin is the closest town at 24 km. Saint-Félicien is 32 km away, with Albanel at 32 km. In the same area: Lac Donnery (1.7 km), Lac Corsavy the better part of 2 km, Lac Secheras (2.1 km), Lac Padirac the better part of 2.7 km and Lac Visan (2.9 km). No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac Boily to its features, not to its size.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. At Lac Boily the season follows that pattern closely.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Donnery is 1.7 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Boily for certain.
