Dull, settled light over the water, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Ageukue should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

In Quebec, Lac Ageukue belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The bank is 395 metres above sea level. Start from Normandin, 27 km down the road. It is 140 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. Others worth noting: Lac Faron out at 0.8 km, Lac de la Tempete the better part of 2.1 km, Lac a Diner out at 2.5 km, Lac de la Dalle the better part of 2.5 km and Lac Corsavy out at 2.8 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Ageukue the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing Lac Ageukue regularly works to that calendar.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Faron is 0.8 km distant. Confirm access to Lac Ageukue locally before you travel.
