A blustery day over the water, with a consistent blow out of the SSW with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Boisvert along inflow corners and shaded margins. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Boisvert is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. What surrounds it is boreal forest. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. For a base, Saint-Félicien sits 25 km out. Saguenay is the closest city, 117 km away. Near neighbours: Lac Raquette a shade over 0.5 km, Lac du Sciotte at 1.3 km, Lac aux Huitres a shade over 1.7 km, Lac de l'Ouest at 1.7 km and Lac du Hibou a shade over 1.9 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The near bank of Lac Boisvert is often the one people ignore.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -18°C for January. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Plan any trip to Lac Boisvert around it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Lac Raquette, 0.5 km out. Signs at Lac Boisvert carry more weight than any list.
