Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with an easy breeze from the N and pressure ticking upward. Whatever swims in Lake Heart should be near the shallows early and the drop later. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Within Perry County, Alabama, you have Lake Heart. It sits in oak and grass. This is a pocket water of some 14 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The town to know is Marion, 3.5 miles out. The big place round here is Tuscaloosa, 43 miles distant. Within a short run: Lake Lou near enough 0.2 miles, Lake Eva at 0.2 miles, Lake Betty near enough 0.2 miles, Lake Mary at 0.4 miles and Lake Ines near enough 0.4 miles. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Public wildlife records from this area list backwater darter, blackbanded darter, bluegill and green sunfish. Use it to know what is possible here, not what is certain. On Lake Heart the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 80°F, the coldest about 44°F. Heat sets the pattern from late spring onward. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Time your trip to Lake Heart by conditions rather than dates.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the panfish, a small hook, a float and a piece of worm outfish everything fancy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lake Lou at 0.2 miles is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lake Heart may have changed since it was mapped.
