Blue sky from bank to bank today, with a light chop building from the N and the barometer heading up. The water to cover at Lake Hugh is structure within a cast of the bank. Expect the better fishing from morning through afternoon. Give the likely spots time before moving. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lake Hugh is listed under Perry County, Alabama. Elevation runs to 226 feet. About 19 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Start from Marion, 4.5 miles down the road. After that come Uniontown at 12 miles and Greensboro at 16 miles. Within easy reach: Lake Vida roughly 0.1 miles, Lake Sam (0.2 miles), Lake Rhoda roughly 0.4 miles, Lake Nett (0.8 miles) and Lake Doris roughly 0.9 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Standing timber shows when the level drops, and fish sit against it. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover backwater darter, blackbanded darter and bluegill. Records show what people reported, so treat the list as a guide to what lives in the area. Work Lake Hugh in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Long-term averages put July at about 81°F and January near 45°F. Warm months push fish deep; cool months bring them back. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. That is the shape of the year on Lake Hugh.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the panfish, a small hook, a float and a piece of worm outfish everything fancy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lake Vida at 0.1 miles is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Lake Hugh as something to verify.
