Showers crossing the water today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Wilfrid should be near windblown banks where food collects. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Wilfrid is one of the Lanaudière listings for Quebec. The ground around here is boreal forest. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Lanaudière list holds plenty of bigger water. Manawan is the closest town at 38 km. After that come Rivière-Rouge at 59 km and Saint-Michel-des-Saints at 62 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Lanaudière cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Wilfrid a short move beats a long cast.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. On Lac Wilfrid the same rules apply, with local timing.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Albert at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Wilfrid, the notice at the access point is the final word.
