Damp, showery conditions today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac Serape should be near any hard bottom among the soft. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Serape sits. It lies 345 metres above sea level. Around 28 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline comes to about 2.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. Size puts it in the front rank of our Laurentides list. Ferme-Neuve sits 63 km from here and is the nearest stop. Beyond it, Manawan at 78 km and Mont-Laurier at 80 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Serape that means starting tight and working out.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -16°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate figures give an open season running late April to mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Serape fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. For a change of water, Lac Lorelei is 2 km distant. For Lac Serape in particular, ask before you travel.
