Rain colouring the margins today, with stillness over the whole water with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Lorelei along the calm side of the wind. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Lorelei, in Laurentides. The land about it is pine and birch. Around 20 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 2.2 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Start from Ferme-Neuve, 62 km down the road. Then Manawan, 76 km, and Mont-Laurier, 79 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Work Lac Lorelei in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It holds true on Lac Lorelei more years than not.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Lac Serape, 2 km out. Check the position at Lac Lorelei before loading the car.
