A rainy spell sitting over the area, with a firm SSW blow with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Sauve will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

In Quebec, Lac Sauve falls inside Mauricie. It sits at 425 metres above sea level. At about 46 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 3.9 km, and most of it is walkable. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. Chapais at 85 km is the nearest place to stop. Saguenay is the closest city, 254 km away. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Treat Lac Sauve as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -19°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Sauve to follow that timing.
Access is not recorded for this water. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. The nearest alternative is Lac Leo, 0.9 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Sauve in what we hold.
