Flat light and a covered sky today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Lac Stan should be near bays that hold the day's warmth. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Stan is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. The bank is 421 metres above sea level. At 6 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. The closest town, Chapais, is 81 km distant. Chibougamau lies 90 km off, Leblanc another 94 km. Round about: Lac Pole some 0.6 km off, 1.5 km out stands Lac Terry, Lac Pot some 1.7 km off, 2.5 km out stands Lac Otto and Lac Simone some 2.7 km off. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout and walleye among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Lac Stan before you fish it and the day goes better.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -19°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Lac Stan the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Pole sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lac Stan before loading the car.
