Mist hanging over the margins today, with a busy S wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac Rioux should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

You will find Lac Rioux in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The bank gives way to northern bush. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Saint-Félicien at 62 km is the nearest place to stop. It is 159 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The near bank of Lac Rioux is often the one people ignore.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -18°C in January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac Rioux rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac du Bourgeon is 0.6 km distant. Check the current arrangement for Lac Rioux.
