No direct sun expected today, with a busy S wind on the open water with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Tony are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Tony is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings for Quebec. It lies 531 metres above sea level. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The full circuit measures close to 2.0 km on foot. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Saint-Félicien lies 64 km from the water. Saguenay sits 160 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Lac Tony where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 16°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Tony fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Morency sits 1.8 km off and takes the overflow. The position on Lac Tony is worth confirming on the day.
