Fog sitting on the water this morning, with a stiffish breeze from the S and no real change in pressure. On Lac Atlas, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Atlas stands in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surface lies 517 metres up. The water measures roughly 6 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Saint-Félicien is the closest place, 61 km off. Saguenay is the closest city, 157 km away. Close by you have: Lac du Raton 0.6 km, Lac Polaris after 1.3 km, Lac Rioux 1.3 km, Lac Rowco after 1.5 km and Lac du Bourgeon 1.9 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Atlas the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Expect Lac Atlas to follow that timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac du Raton, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Atlas are worth checking on the day.
