No direct sun expected today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Pilon will be around the shallows early and the drop later. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Pilon in Mauricie, Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have taiga. It covers about 6 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. You are 56 km from Leblanc. After that come Weymontachie at 69 km and Manawan at 71 km. Close neighbours run: Lac Frog 0.4 km away, Lac Pot sits 1.2 km out, Lac Simard 2.2 km away, Lac Bow sits 3.3 km out and Lac Racine 3.9 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Fish Lac Pilon to its features, not to its size.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan around that when you fish Lac Pilon.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Frog, 0.4 km away. Signs at Lac Pilon carry more weight than any list.
