Rain moving through today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Lointain will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Lointain lies within the bounds of Mauricie, Quebec. It stands 540 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Mauricie are larger. The closest town, Leblanc, is 59 km away. Beyond it, Manawan at 72 km and Weymontachie at 75 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The shape of Lac Lointain decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -17°C for January. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan any trip to Lac Lointain around it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Cliff sits 3.1 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac Lointain carry more weight than any list.
