Dull, settled light over the water, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Lac Fox should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Fox is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. It sits in northern bush. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The whole outline is near 1.5 km, and most of it is walkable. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Leblanc is the closest place, 59 km off. The nearest city of size is Trois-Rivières, 227 km away. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The shape of Lac Fox rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The year swings from about -17°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Fox rarely departs from it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Savard is 0.8 km distant. Signs at Lac Fox carry more weight than any list.
