Flat light and a covered sky today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Ostrom around the shallows early and the drop later. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Look for Lac Ostrom in the Outaouais part of Quebec. The setting is rolling bush on every side. Small at around 5 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Nearest town is Deep River, 37 km off. For a city, Gatineau is 133 km off. Water in the same corner: Lac Ranger about 1 km, Lac Seguin 1.5 km away, Lac Paquin about 1.7 km, Lac Chanceux 2.3 km away and Lac Lacourse about 2.6 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Ostrom repays a walk before the first cast.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -14°C in January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. That shapes the year on Lac Ostrom.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac Ranger at 1 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Lac Ostrom locally before you travel.
