Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Orvet should be near the margins and the shelf beyond them. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Orvet lies in Outaouais, in Quebec. It lies 442 metres above sea level. About 2 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Outaouais list holds plenty of bigger water. Nearest town is Saint-Boniface, 98 km off. Ferme-Neuve follows at 100 km, then Mont-Laurier at 111 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Orvet a short move beats a long cast.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -17°C for January. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. At Lac Orvet the season follows that pattern closely.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Briot, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Orvet are worth checking on the day.
