Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a light chop building from the SSW with the glass holding level. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac Vesce. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Vesce lies in Outaouais, in Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. It covers about 5 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 101 km distant. Gatineau is the closest city, 216 km away. Within a short drive: Lac Jeannie at 1.2 km, Lac Targon just 1.3 km, Lac Terpene at 1.6 km, Lac Termite just 1.9 km and Lac Aigrette at 2 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac Vesce should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Lac Vesce fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac Jeannie, 1.2 km away. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Vesce for certain.
