Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with air barely moving with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Myon will be around the shaded margin through bright spells. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand.

Lac Myon is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, Quebec side. It sits at 356 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to about 7 hectares — small enough to read in one session. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 112 km distant. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 216 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Lac Myon rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -16°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. From about early May to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Myon follows the weather closely.
We hold no note on access for this one. A slipway 620 m out gives trailer access. Overnight stays are possible 620 m away. Facilities run to toilets 500 m from the water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Lac Fiel is 1 km distant. For Lac Myon in particular, ask before you travel.
