Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a working SSW breeze and no real change in pressure. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lac Lubine. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac Lubine sits. This is taiga ground. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. Normandin sits 37 km from the bank. Further out sit Albanel (44 km) and Saint-Félicien (46 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Lubine gives up more to patience than to distance.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Time your trip to Lac Lubine by conditions rather than dates.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Lac Oculus at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Lubine are worth checking on the day.
