A closed sky with even light today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Raclot should hold close to the calm side of the wind. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Raclot sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, out in Quebec. The bank gives way to taiga. The water covers some 13 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 1.5 km on foot. The nearest place of any size is Normandin, 37 km away. After that come Albanel at 44 km and Saint-Félicien at 45 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Anyone new to Lac Raclot should walk it once before setting up.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac Raclot runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Cantara, 2.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Raclot in what we hold.
