A grey, even sky over the water, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and the barometer holding steady. Lac Clerlande should fish best around structure within a cast of the bank today. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Clerlande is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings for Quebec. The bank is 458 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. 42 km away sits Normandin, the nearest town. Saguenay is the closest city, 156 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Lac Clerlande the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Clerlande fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Lorquin, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Clerlande, the notice at the access point is the final word.
