An even grey lid over the water, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac Allay is the first drop-off and weed lines. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Lac Allay is set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. This is northern bush ground. At 7 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Supplies mean a trip to Normandin, 43 km off. Further out sit Albanel (50 km) and Saint-Félicien (53 km). If this one is busy: Lac du Hibou at 0.8 km, Lac Joyelle near enough 1.1 km, Lac Avignon at 1.3 km, Lac du Pluvier near enough 1.5 km and Lac Gaudry at 1.5 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Allay gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The range across the year is -18°C to 16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Lac Allay regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Lac du Hibou, 0.8 km away. What applies at Lac Allay may have changed since it was mapped.
