Solid cloud cover today, with a light S breeze with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Long should come off the calm side of the wind. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

You will find Lac Long in Outaouais, Quebec. The ground around here is lake country bush. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 1.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. 14 km away sits Ripon, the nearest town. Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel follows at 16 km, then Saint-André-Avellin at 21 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The near bank of Lac Long is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -13°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. It holds true on Lac Long more years than not.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac du Rat Musque at 2.1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Lac Long before loading the car.
