Lac de la Province falls in Outaouais, part of Quebec. It sits at 339 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. For supplies, Ripon is 17 km out. Beyond it, Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel at 17 km and Saint-André-Avellin at 24 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records hold no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Anyone new to Lac de la Province should walk it once before setting up.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -13°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. The season on Lac de la Province rarely departs from it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lac Matow at 0.2 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac de la Province in particular, ask before you travel.
