A closed sky with even light today, with a steady SSE wind and no real change in pressure. Give the shallows early and the drop later the first hour at Lac La Salle. The strongest window is the morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac La Salle falls in Capitale-Nationale, part of Quebec. The country round it is spruce and muskeg from end to end. At some 6.53 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. Some 20 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Nothing else we list in Capitale-Nationale covers more water. The closest town, Laurentides, is 19 km away. After that come Saint-Raymond at 46 km and La Tuque at 54 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Open biodiversity records for Capitale-Nationale list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac La Salle a short move beats a long cast.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -15°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Lac La Salle runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. For a change of water, Lac Bigart is 1.3 km distant. Confirm access to Lac La Salle locally before you travel.
