A rainy spell sitting over the area, with enough S wind to stack food downwind with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Bob should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Set the alarm around the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

This water sits in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. It lies 575 metres above sea level. You can fish the entire water from one spot if you pick it well. It is a small entry by Capitale-Nationale standards. The nearest place of any size is Laurentides, 23 km away. The big place round here is Sainte-Foy, 82 km distant. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Bob the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. That is the shape of the year on Lac Bob.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Alphonse at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Bob, the notice at the access point is the final word.
