Bands of rain crossing through the day, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Hobo should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Hobo falls in Mauricie, part of Quebec. The setting is taiga. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Leblanc is the closest town at 59 km. Saguenay sits 222 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Work Lac Hobo in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Hobo runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We hold no note on access for this one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac Nil at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Hobo, the notice at the access point is the final word.
